Here's the deal

Why would an electrician price your job for free?

Most electrical companies charge a service call to come look at your job, then quote it. You pay before you know the number. If the number is wrong for you, you've spent money and an evening finding that out, and now you need two more quotes.

We flipped it. You get the number first. Then you decide.

We can do that because 17 years in the trade means most residential jobs can be priced from a description and a few photos. And when the number works for you, you hire us or one of our partner crews for the job. Enough people do that we can afford to give everyone else free advice. That's the whole business model. There's no catch to find.

What you get

Everything that comes with the form.

A budget price from a journeyman electrician

A real range for your job, from someone who has priced thousands of them. Most companies charge a service call to get this far.

Two kinds of numbers

The more you show us, the tighter the price.

We'll always tell you which one you're getting.

From the form alone

Budget price

A range, from your description.

  • Tells you if the job is an $800 job or an $8,000 job
  • Good for planning and deciding whether to go ahead
  • Based on what you told us, so it can move once we see the job
  • It's a planning number, not a promise
With photos or a site visit

Firm quote

A written price we stand behind.

  • From photos of the panel, the work area and the path between
  • Or a site visit when the job needs eyes on it
  • Written and itemized, permit included where one is needed
  • This is the number you pay

Our promises

Three things we put in writing.

The quote is the price.

Every job starts with a written quote. What's on it is what you pay. Extras only happen if you ask for them, and you see them in writing first.

Site visit fee comes off your job.

If we can't price it from photos and need to come out, the small site visit fee is credited to your job when you go ahead.

The $99 inspection comes off the repairs.

If an insurance inspection finds work that needs doing and you hire us for it, the $99 is credited.

Is this for you?

Who we're a fit for.

This is for you if
  • You own a home in Winnipeg and have an electrical job coming up
  • You want a number before you commit to anyone
  • You'd rather have the right crew than the first crew
  • Your insurance company asked about your wiring and you need it sorted
Probably not for you if
  • You want a cash job with no permit. Every job that needs a permit gets one
  • You're outside Winnipeg. Ask anyway, we'll tell you right away either way
  • You want someone out today for free. The free part is the call and the price

Questions

Things people ask before they send the form.

Is the price really free? What's the catch?

The call, the advice and the budget price cost nothing. We make money when you hire us or a partner crew for the job. Enough people do that it works. If you take the number and go elsewhere, that's fine too.

How can you price it from photos?

Most residential jobs come down to the panel, where the work goes, and the path between them. A photo of each plus your description is usually enough for a range. The written quote after is the number that counts.

What's the difference between a budget price and a firm quote?

A budget price is a range from what you told us. It's for planning and it can move once we see the job. A firm quote is written, from photos or a site visit, and it's the number you pay.

Who actually does the work?

Our own crew, or a licensed, insured Winnipeg electrical contractor we've vetted and matched to your kind of job. Either way you deal with us from start to finish, and you call us if anything comes up after.

What if the job needs a site visit?

We'll say so on the call and book a time. There's a small site visit fee, and it's credited to your job when you go ahead.

Do you do small jobs?

Yes. A dead plug or a new light counts. Small jobs are usually the fastest to get done.

Is the work permitted and inspected?

Yes. Every job that needs a permit gets one, pulled by the licensed contractor doing the work, and the City inspects it.

What areas do you cover?

Winnipeg and the areas right around it. Outside the city, ask and we'll tell you right away.

One more thing

Hot tub, EV charger and panel jobs book up fast.

Permits and Hydro bookings take time. The sooner you have a number, the sooner you're on a schedule. The form takes a minute.
